Exploring the Potential of Iconic Industries with VIMK 2022

Since the declaration of Kuningan Regency as a Conservation Regency, completed with the culture and geographical conditions of Kuningan Regency that support the development of agrarian and tourism potential, the opportunity to enter and establish large industries in Kuningan Regency is gradually closing. Although in several neighboring regencies such as Cirebon, Indramayu and Majalengka, they have begun to open the entrance and the establishment of large industries which are expected to increase the Gross Regional Domestic Product by opening up new jobs which will lead to a contraction in the rate of economic growth and an increase in the level of the economy and the welfare of the community.

However, this is not the case with Kuningan Regency, the consideration that Kuningan is a Conservation and Agrarian Regency is in accordance with one of the Preliminary Drafts of the 2018-2023 RPJMD for Kuningan Regency Chapter V-3, namely Realizing the development of rural areas based on agriculture, tourism, culture and local potential to accelerate growth and economic equality of the people.

In line with this, when the opportunities for large industries in Kuningan Regency are getting smaller, the Small Industry and Micro Industry sectors are mostly managed individually and spread evenly throughout the Kuningan Regency area. One of them is the Ring Industry in Cihideunghilir Village, Cidahu District. In this village there are many micro-industries and small industries that specialize in making rings from silver metal.

In this year's VIMK Survey conducted by Mrs. Siti Nurlela, S.Pd, a partner of Statistics from Cidahu Subistrict, where she obtained samples of several ring industry businesses. From this VIMK survey, some strategic information related to the ring-making business was extracted, including the number of workers, working hours, business turnover, production costs, profits/losses and various obstacles faced.

Hopefully, from the information collected through this annual VIMK survey, it is possible to issue government policies and programs that support the development of small industries and micro industries in Kuningan Regency, especially the ring industry in Cidahu sub-district.
